Continuing my weekly series where I go through my impressively large collection (1,054 titles) of DVDs and Blu-Rays. I have been neglecting older movies for new ones, so I’m going through and re-watching everything from my vault. I have the films divided into categories: General, Series, Classics, Kids, Shakespeare, and Documentary. I’m starting with General.
In honor of my upcoming Las Vegas trip, this week’s movies were revolving around the gambling hub in the middle of the Nevada desert.

Comments After Re-Watching: There need to be more ensemble movies with casts on this level. Drunk Morgan Freeman was the best when all his internal dialog was coming out his mouth.
Why You Should You Watch This: This is a solid comedy with an iconic cast.
Ocean’s Eleven (2001)

Comments After Re-Watching: This movie doesn’t seem like it is 17 years old. It completely holds up and remains fun to watch no matter how many times you watch it.
Why You Should You Watch This: It is a classic heist movie with a great cast that is fun to watch.
Ocean’s Thirteen (2007)

Comments After Re-Watching: Thankfully, Ocean’s Twelve did not take place in Vegas so I could skip it. This is the far superior sequel that continued to the storyline in a much better and more meaningful way.
Why You Should You Watch This: If you skipped this one because you hated Ocean’s Twelve, you should give it a chance. It is greater than/equal to the first movie.
Now You See Me (2013)

Comments After Re-Watching: While only a third of the movie takes place in Vegas, I decided to count it. Even though I am not a fan of the actors individually, they all work well together in a watchable way.
Why You Should You Watch This: It is more of a heist movie than a magic movie and is on par with the Ocean movies.
Smokin’ Aces (2006)

Comments After Re-Watching: I remembered this as being Vegas, but it takes places in Lake Tahoe. The whole backstory takes place in Vegas which is why I remember it.
Why You Should You Watch This: This is a smart action movie with a fantastic cast. I remember that this was the movie when I discovered Ryan Reynolds was actually a good actor and not just a comedic one.
