Continuing my weekly series where I go through my impressively large collection (1,054 titles) of DVDs and Blu-Rays. I have been neglecting older movies for new ones, so I’m going through and re-watching everything from my vault. I have the films divided into categories: General, Series, Classics, Kids, Shakespeare, and Documentary. I’m starting with General.
Bride of Chucky (1998)
Format: DVD Special Features: Commentary
Last Time Watched: More than fifteen years ago
Originally Viewed: Rental
Comments After Re-Watching: I have zero recollection of Katherine Heigl being in this movie. I need to drag the soundtrack out more often. It has so many great songs.
Why You Should You Watch This: It is much closer to a comedy than a horror movie and doesn’t take itself seriously.
Bridget Jones’ Diary (2001)
Format: DVD Special Features: Behind the scenes, Commentary, and Interviews
Last Time Watched: Over a year ago
Originally Viewed: Theater
Comments After Re-Watching: Renée Zellweger looked best in this movie before all the weight ups and downs.
Why You Should You Watch This: This is one of the best modern retellings of Pride and Prejudice.
Bring It On (2000)
Format: DVD Special Features: Behind the scenes, Commentary, and Interviews
Last Time Watched: Two years ago
Originally Viewed: Rental
Comments After Re-Watching: The opening of this movie always makes me smile.
Why You Should You Watch This: It is a surprisingly funny teen comedy that holds up well eighteen years later.
The Brothers Bloom (2008)
Format: DVD Special Features: Behind the scenes, Commentary, and Interviews
Last Time Watched: Within the last year
Originally Viewed: Rental
Comments After Re-Watching: Hard to believe the man who made this movie also is responsible for Star Wars: The Last Jedi
Why You Should You Watch This: This is classic con-man movie that is well-written, directed, and acted.
Another week’s selection with more randomness of the types of movies I own. Come back next week to see what I watched next.
