Week 7: From My Vault: 4 Movies Watched

Continuing my weekly series where I go through my impressively large collection (1,054 titles) of DVDs and Blu-Rays. I have been neglecting older movies for new ones, so I’m going through and re-watching everything from my vault. I have the films divided into categories: General, Series, Classics, Kids, Shakespeare, and Documentary. I’m starting with General.

Better Off Dead (1985)

Comments After Re-Watching: This movie holds up well, and I still remember all the lines and gags.
Why You Should You Watch This: It is classic an ’80s movie and classic John Cusack movie.

Betsy’s Wedding (1990)

Last Time Watched: Within the last five years
Originally Viewed: Cable
Comments After Re-Watching: I’m a huge Alan Alda fan. I’ve read all his books, and this is one of my favorite movies that he wrote and directed.
Why You Should You Watch This: This romantic-comedy is hilarious and filled with a fantastic ensemble cast that includes the late-great Madeline Khan.

The Best Marigold Hotel (2011)

Format: DVD  Special Features: Behind the scenes
Last Time Watched: Within the last year
Originally Viewed: Rental
Comments After Re-Watching: I love seeing friends make a movie together. I can only imagine what it was like between scenes.
Why You Should You Watch This: It is a fun comedy filled with British acting royalty set in India.

Being John Malkovich (1999)

Format: DVD  Special Features: Behind the scenes and interviews
Last Time Watched: Within the last ten years
Originally Viewed: Rental
Comments After Re-Watching: I forgot Charlie Sheen was in it and played himself.
Why You Should You Watch This: While this is an incredibly odd film, it is well made, and it is impressive they could convince John Malkovich to be in it.
