Continuing my weekly series where I go through my impressively large collection (1,054 titles) of DVDs and Blu-Rays. I have been neglecting older movies for new ones, so I’m going through and re-watching everything from my vault. I have the films divided into categories: General, Series, Classics, Kids, Shakespeare, and Documentary. I’m starting with General.
The Answer Man (2009)
Format: DVD Special Features: Behind the scenes and commentary

Comments After Re-Watching: I kind of want to recreate the spine costume for Halloween despite the outcome of wearing it in the movie.
Why You Should You Watch This: A surprisingly charming romantic-comedy with Jeff Daniels being both funny and serious in equal proportions.
Argo (2012)
Format: Blu-ray Special Features: Behind the scenes, interviews, and commentary
Last Time Watched: Within the last three years
Originally Viewed: Theater
Comments After Re-Watching: Even knowing the ending, it is incredibly stressful to watch which says a lot about the quality of the movie.
Why You Should You Watch This: Say what you will about him as an actor, but Affleck did a great job as a director with this film. Plus, it has Alan Arkin in it, and all movies are worth watching when he is in them.
Arrival (2016)
Format: Blu-ray Special Features: Behind the scenes and interviews
Last Time Watched: In the theater
Originally Viewed: Theater
Comments After Re-Watching: When you know the ending, you see the clues a lot more. I need to have this in the regular rotation.
Why You Should You Watch This: A non-traditional sci-fi movie worth checking out for both the characters and plot.
Assassin’s Creed (2016)
Format: Special Features: Behind the scenes and interviews
Last Time Watched: Within the last six months

Comments After Re-Watching: I never played the video game so I can’t speak to that, but this movie is truly gorgeous despite the weak ending.
Why You Should You Watch This: Michael Fassbender is always worth watching as is Jeremy Irons.
Atomic Blond (2017)
Format: Blu-ray Special Features: Behind the scenes, interviews, and commentary
Last Time Watched: In the theater
Originally Viewed: Theater
Comments After Re-Watching: More movies like this, please.
Why You Should You Watch This: It is a robust Cold War-era spy versus spy flick with a great cast and soundtrack.
Austenland (2013)
Format: DVD Special Features: Interviews and commentary
Last Time Watched: Within the last year
Originally Viewed: Rental
Comments After Re-Watching: A real guilty pleasure that can be rewatched over and over again.
Why You Should You Watch This: While it is not the book, it is fun and funny Jane Austen fluff. The second time you watch it, just watch JJ Feild‘s expressions to other characters.
Avatar (2009)
Format: DVD Special Features: None
Last Time Watched: In the theater
Originally Viewed: Theater
Comments After Re-Watching: While I don’t understand the need to make many sequels to it, it is a good film. However, not good enough to make me upgrade it to blu-ray.
Why You Should You Watch This: James Cameron knows how to make movies. While not at quotable or badass as some of his other films, it is a solid effort.
Another week’s selection with more randomness of the types of movies I own. Come back next week to see what I watched next.
