Week 1: From My Vault: 5 Movies Watched

I’m starting a new weekly series where I go through my impressively large collection (1,054 titles) of DVDs and Blu-Rays. I have been neglecting older movies for new ones, so I’m going through and re-watching everything from my vault. I have the films divided into categories: General, Series, Classics, Kids, Shakespeare, and Documentary. I’m starting with General.

Comments After Re-Watching: I completely forgot Elmore Leonard wrote the original short story.
Why You Should You Watch This: Wonderful character development and performances with a gorgeous backdrop. Russell Crowe and Christian Bale have great chemistry. Plus Alan Tudyk is in it.

12 Monkeys (1995)

Format: DVD Special Features: Commentary, behind the scenes, and interviews
Last Time Watched: About 15 years ago

Comments After Re-Watching: Brad Pitt has aged, but Bruce Willis has not.
Why You Should You Watch: While this movie is almost twenty-five years old, it is still a solid science-fiction thriller that holds up.

27 Dresses (2008)

Format: DVD Special Features: Deleted scenes and featurettes
Last Time Watched: Within the last five years
Originally Viewed: Rental
Comments After Re-Watching: I probably should hate this movie, but I don’t.
Why You Should You Watch This: Despite Katherine Heigl, this is an enjoyable romantic comedy.

28 Days (2000)

Format: DVD Special Features: Commentary, behind the scenes, and interviews
Last Time Watched: Within the last ten years
Originally Viewed: Rental
Comments After Re-Watching: The cast in this movie is pretty amazing.
Why You Should You Watch This: It is well written. The cast is fantastic. While it is a comedy about rehab, the filmmakers aren’t degrading the process or those that go through it. Plus Alan Tudyk is in it.

This week’s selection is a decent sample of the randomness of the types of movies I own. Come back next week to see what I watched next.

Have you seen any of these movies? Let us know your thoughts in the comment section!
