I’m not a sports fan, but I do enjoy variations of picking March Madness brackets for movies, books, and TV shows. This year the evil, cruel, beautiful people at io9.com came up with a bracket for “What’s The Best Sci-Fi/Fantasy Film of the Last Ten Years.”
This was not at all easy to do. I felt physical pain in deciding between some of them. I thought I would show you my list and I would justify my choices. There are four sections total, and then those four winners would compete. Below is the final four and the ultimate winner.
You can see the first section picks HERE. You can see the second section picks HERE. You can see the third section picks HERE. You can see the fourth section picks HERE.
Final Four
Bracket: Mad Max: Fury Road vs. Guardians of the Galaxy
My Pick: Guardians of the Galaxy
Reason: As much as I loved all that went into Mad Max, I saw Guardians in the theater three times and have been a fan of James Gunn since Slither. It wasn’t a fair fight.
Bracket: Inception vs. Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse
My Pick: Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse
Reason: These are two very different movies and comparing them is unfair. There are so many different elements and planning that went into both, but Spider-Man has the edge of Spider-Ham.
Championship
Bracket: Guardians of the Galaxy vs. Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse
My Pick: Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse
Reason: This hurt. This hurt a lot. The sheer level of detail that went into Spider-Man gave it the edge by a hair.
